TasteMap · iOS
Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 30, 2026
The short version: TasteMap does not sell your data, track you, run analytics, show ads, or store your data on servers operated by Odeba. Your TasteMap data is stored on your device. If iCloud is enabled for TasteMap, your app records may also sync through iCloud so they can stay up to date across your devices.
Data storage
App records you create in TasteMap — dishes you've logged, visits, your wishlist, and app settings — are stored on your device using Apple's Core Data framework. Photos you attach are saved in the app's local photo storage on your device.
TasteMap uses iCloud to sync app records when iCloud is available and enabled for the app. Odeba does not receive copies of your TasteMap data.
If you have iCloud Backup enabled on your device, Apple may also include TasteMap data as part of your standard device backup. TasteMap has no involvement in or access to that process.
iCloud sync
iCloud sync is used only to keep your TasteMap records consistent across devices signed in to the same Apple Account. If iCloud is unavailable, disabled, or not signed in on your device, TasteMap continues to store your data locally on that device.
Your iCloud data is governed by your Apple Account and Apple's iCloud settings. You can manage iCloud access for TasteMap in the iOS Settings app.
Data we do not collect
TasteMap does not collect data for Odeba-operated servers, tracking, analytics, or advertising. Specifically, we do not collect:
- Personal information for marketing or analytics
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Location data on servers operated by Odeba
- Usage analytics or crash reports sent to us
- Any data through third-party SDKs or trackers
If you sign in with Apple, Apple may provide TasteMap with an account identifier and, depending on your Apple settings, an email address. TasteMap uses this only for app sign-in and stores it on your device and, if iCloud sync is enabled, in your private iCloud account.
Permissions
TasteMap may use the following Apple services and system permissions. They are used only for the purposes described below:
- Camera & Photo Library — to let you attach photos to dishes and visits. Photo files are saved in the app's local storage and are not sent to servers operated by Odeba.
- Location (When In Use) — to help you search for nearby restaurants when logging a visit. If you save a visit location, it becomes part of your TasteMap records and may sync through iCloud if enabled. Your location is never stored on servers operated by Odeba.
- iCloud — to sync your TasteMap records across your devices using Apple's servers.
Export & import
TasteMap includes an optional export feature that lets you save a backup of your data as a JSON file. This file is generated entirely on your device and shared only via iOS's standard share sheet — to wherever you choose (Files, AirDrop, email, etc.). We never receive this file.
Feedback
If you choose to contact us with feedback or a support question via email, we will only use the information you provide to respond to your message. We do not add you to any mailing list or share your information with third parties.
Children's privacy
TasteMap does not knowingly collect information from children under 13 on servers operated by Odeba, and the app does not use tracking, analytics, advertising, or third-party data collection SDKs. Any app data a user creates is stored on the user's device and may sync through that user's private iCloud account if iCloud sync is enabled.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a meaningful way — for example, if a future version of the app introduces any form of data collection by Odeba — the updated policy will be posted here with a revised date, and the change will be noted in the app's release notes.
